County fair!

I finally decided to start my own blog! After hearing that a blog could be my family journal I hopped on board. So here it goes blogger world this is my first entry!

Our family went for the first time to the Clark County State Fair on April 12, 2008. I must say it was an adventure. Our friends the Cardalls (Dave, Cheryl, Nathan, Tyler, Garett, and Emma) decided they would brave going with us. When we got close to the exit we noticed we couldn't even get off for about 4 miles. Rick who is the brilliant man I married decided to go to the next exit and turn around to come from the other side. The cardalls followed. I think we shaved off only 5 minutes of time. While we were at stop and go traffic to get into Logandale, we decided to make our time worthwhile. Rick started to read Harry Potter to the kids while driving. I decided to nurse Kate. The guy behind us decided to switch places with his wife and pee in the bushes. So through it all we left at 2'0clock in the afternoon and got into the fair grounds at 4:30.
Yee Haw!

We finally went into the fair grounds with four adults, 8 kids, and 30,000 other people. I think we are crazy! We decided to stick together and go to the animals first. The first thing Mindy says is, "This place stinks." I said, "Of course it does sweetheart these are animals." So even though it had a smell Mindy was in love with the animals. We saw cows, chickens, sheep, goats, and pigs. There was a mother pig with 10 piglets feeding on her! My kids thought that was great. My friend Cheryl came up to me and said, "Aren't you glad you only have one that you are nursing. I said amen to that!

There was also a great deal of horticulture to look at. The kids were able to plant something and take it home. They were able to feel what corn, barley, and wheat feels like after it is harvested. It really made you want to be a farming family! Can you imagine the title "Farmer Rick." It has a ring to it doesn't it!

We then moved out in the open and saw the sites. Some we won't mention. Others we thought were cool. We learned about our environment and how we effect it. My kids thought the Desert tortoise booth was cool. They had a tortoise there that had been stuffed.

We had a great time. However we were wiped out by the end. We also decided maybe farming isn't for us just yet!
